Recognition of Excellence Program


The Vipers welcome the LaSalle Sabres Atom Minor team as their newest ROE member. The team went undefeated in the Randy Brunet Memorial. Congratulations to the players and coaches, for working so hard, winning it all and excelling in your sport.

LaSalle Sabres Midget Minor AA team excelled in their sport and The Vipers congratulate the players and coaches on their win of the Champions of the Steel City Veteran’s Cup Tournament during the first weekend in November. The Sabres faced teams from Toronto, Texas and a West Virginia going undefeated in the tournament triggering an invitation to the Tournament of Champions in Chicago, Illinois in March 2010.  The Sabres outscored their competition with 22 goals for and zero goals against through the tournament posting a perfect record including 4 consecutive shut-outs.  Welcome to our Recognition of Excellence membership.

The Vipers created our Recognition of Excellence program to acknowledge other community teams that excel in their sports. Our newest member of the ROE Program is the LaSalle Sabres 98s, Atom Majors sponsored by Victoria Steel. This group of 17 young men have come together to form a team that has gone way beyond anyone's expectations. Their regular season record of 19 - 2- 2 gave them first place. They went undefeated in the round robin series and then eliminated Tecumseh in 3 games straight in the first playdown series. In the second playdown series, they bounced back from a first game lost to eliminate Chatham in game 5 to win the Bluewater Championship. They are now currently representing LaSalle in the OMHA quarter finals. Congratulations to the players and coaches for your great efforts.

LaSalle Sabres Bantam Select Team

The Vipers are pleased to announce the newest member of our Recognition of Excellence program, the LaSalle Sabres Bantam Select Team. After a very successful season, the team to London on the Jan 16 - 18th weekend to participate in the Dan Pulham Memorial Hockey Tournament.  The Sabres went 4-0-1 in the tournament to take the Gold in the Bantam A Division. Ray Dun was named the game MVP for LaSalle scoring the winning goal in OT on his birthday to put the Sabres past Sarnia 1-0 to win the Championship Game. Jacob Ryan got the shut out.  Coaches Dave Stringer, and Mark Oliver were very pleased with team and the tournament
win. Congratulations to the Sabres Bantam Select Team on their very successful year!

LaSalle Stompers '98s 'THE GREEN MACHINE!!!'

Regular Season and Playoff Champs!!!!!
 
After finishing as the 2008 Regular Season Champs with an undefeated record of 13 - 0 - 1, the boys continued their winning streak through the playoffs. The LaSalle Stompers ‘98s competitive team won the 2008 Windsor and District Soccer League Playoff Championship on September 11, 2008 against the Windsor Wolves by a score of 1 – 0.   They beat the Tecumseh Warriors Blue team in the semi finals in a very exciting and intense game after coming from behind to win in overtime by a score of 4 - 3.  In the finals, the Windsor Wolves played a strong game and both teams battled hard until the Stompers took the lead 1-0 with just minutes left in the game. 
 
Congratulations to the Stompers players, ‘THE GREEN MACHINE’, on an absolutely wonderful season!

Nantais Sports Steelers Recognition of Excellence Night

The Vipers continued their Recognition of Excellence program on Wednesday Nov. 20th by honoring the Nantais Sports Steelers of the Windsor Minor Football Association  for their recent Tyke Division Championship victory. After starting the season 2-6 the Steelers pulled together in the playoffs outscoring their opponents 106-24.

LaSalle Sabres Peewee Majors Recognition of Excellence Night

The LaSalle Vipers initiated their "Recognition of Excellence" program which honours an exceptional individual, team or community group that achieves success within our community. At the October 29th game, the LaSalle Sabres Peewee Majors were the first such group honoured for winning the first Hockey Championship at the Vollmer Complex in the inaugural Randy Brunett Memorial Tournament held at the LMHA's new home. The team presented Dr. Keven Hockley, President of the LaSalle Minor Hockey Association, with the Championship Game Puck, Trophy and Banner during the ceremony. The Team & Vipers also thanked the LMHA's Board of Directors and it's many volunteers for putting on such a well run Tournament that put our community on display for over 300 hockey players and their families on Thanksgiving weekend. The first of many Randy Brunett Tournaments and many LaSalle Sabres Championships to come.

 
Also honoured was the Vipers own, Patrick Murphy # 81, who this week received the "Mickey Renaud Memorial Award for Hockey Excellence" from the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club. This award is presented annually to a player from Essex County drafted by an OHL club. The recipient of the award must show extraordinary dedication and effort to achieve excellence as a hockey player. This player must also demonstrate positive leadership traits on-ice as well as provide support and a positive attitude to other players around him. Patrick Murphy embodies all of the characteristics associated with the Mickey Renaud Award for Hockey Excellence.
